Yesterday was Patrick's 5 month birthday. The day before was Luke's 30th birthday, which was also Patrick's very first trip to a restaurant. It may seem silly to some that we never venture out to eat, but for us, it really isn't a big deal... we enjoy cooking at home or just picking up food as take-out. But for Luke's birthday, it was something special, so we got out to celebrate. Patrick skipped an afternoon nap, so by the time we got to the restaurant, he was really in the "zone" (which is what we call that stage where he's in lala land but doesn't allow himself to go to sleep). It's funny how he does this, just staring off into the distance & if something startles him, he will likely cry big huge crocodile tears. Well, needless to say, we were waiting for a melt-down, but it never happened & even though Luke ended up holding Patrick all through the meal, it was pleasant!
Things got back to normal and Patrick got back into his old "routine" last night, not waking up until 8 AM this morning! Of course, the good night of rest helped Luke and I too, and we were ready to have a great day today. Playtime was a lot of fun today... and after working at it all last week, today he rolled over for the first time. Luke was there, right beside him & even though I missed it, I managed to capture it on video a few moments later...
Life is good & always a surprise!
